Abstract

PURPOSE:To obviate the deterioration in the appearance quality, rust preventive effect, and coating film adhesion of an Al formed body by chromating and then electrodeposition-coating the Al formed body, and chemical conversion-coating and then electrodeposition-coating the Al formed body, and chemical conversion-coating and then electrodeposition-coating the combination product with an iron formed body. CONSTITUTION:The engine hood 11 and fender panel 12 as an Al formed body are chromated, and an automobile body 10 (product), a combination of the hood 11, etc., further electrodeposition-coated and a main body 13, etc., as an iron formed body is chemical conversion-treated with a zinc phosphate coating film forming soln. In this case, the zinc phosphate in the soln. does not react with the chromate coating film covered with the electrodeposition coating film, and hence the elution of the chromate can be avoided. The main body 13, etc., are electrodeposition-coated in succession to the chemical conversion treatment. In this case, an electrodeposition coating film is not again formed on the Al formed body such as the hood 11. By this method, the deterioration in the appearance quality, rust preventive effect, etc., of the Al formed body is obviated, and a product having a uniform surface quality can be obtained.
