Abstract

PURPOSE:To obviate the deterioration in the appearance quality, rust preventive effect, and coating film adhesion of an Al formed body and to obtain a product having a uniform surface quality by conversion-treating and then electrodeposition-coating the Al formed body, again conversion-treating the combination product of the Al formed body and an iron formed body, and then electrodeposition-coating the iron formed body. CONSTITUTION:The engine hood 11 and fender panel 12 as the Al formed body are firstly conversion-treated with a phosphate coating film forming soln., and the hood 11, etc., are combined with the main body 13, etc., as the iron formed body to obtain an automobile body 10 (product). The main body 13, etc., of the automobile body 10 are secondly conversion-treated with the phosphate coating film forming soln. In this case, the conversion coating film on the hood 11, etc., is not grown by the second conversion treatment, because the film is covered with the electrodeposition coating film. The automobile body 10 after the second conversion treatment is electrodeposition-coated. Since the hood 11, etc., are in the state closely resembling a nonconductor, the electrodeposition coating film is fixed on only the main body 13, etc., and a coating film can be formed on the whole automobile body 10 (product) in uniform thickness.
