Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a plating layer of prescribed Ni content even under the conditions of low current density and low plating bath flow velocity by using a bath of low Ni concentration, by adding specific amounts of Bi<3+> ions into a sulfate bath for plating. CONSTITUTION:In manufacturing a Zn-Ni alloy-plated steel sheet by using a sulfate bath as an electrolyte for plating, Bi<3+> ions are added to the above sulfate bath by 1-100mg/l. By this method, a Zn-Ni alloy-plated steel sheet of gamma-single phase in which Ni content in a plating layer is regulated to 9-18wt.% can be obtained by using a low Ni molar concentration ratio bath in which molar concentration ratio of Ni is regulated to 0.4-<0.6 even if current density and plating bath flow velocity are as low as <100A/dm<2> and <1.5m/sec, respectively.
