Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an infrared ray heater with no function deterioration by peeling and no breakage by shock by providing a heating body in a metal tube made of ferrous alloy containing aluminum and having an oxide conversion layer made by heat oxidation on the outer surface. CONSTITUTION:In a sheath type infrared ray heater with a heating body 2 in a metal tube 1, an oxide conversion layer 3 made by heat oxidation is provided at least on the outer surface of the metal tube 1, and the metal tube 1 is constituted of ferrous alloy containing aluminum. A firm oxide film 3 rarely peeled off is generated on the surface of the substrate alloy by the oxidation process of the metal tube 1, and the generated oxide film 3 becomes an infrared ray emitting body. The infrared ray heater with no function deterioration by peeling and no breakage by shock is thereby obtained.
