Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable printing with uniform density through using a simple construction, by supplying a printing signal to a thermal head, reciprocally moving the head in a scanning manner on a thermal recording paper, thereby performing desired printing on the paper, and bringing the head and the paper out of contact with each other upon the completion of printing. CONSTITUTION:A guide member 13 is provided with four notched parts 14a-14d. When a base 10 is driven in an auxiliary scanning direction, two rollers come out off the notched parts 14b, 14d, and roll along a side face 13a of the member 13, whereby the base 10 and a thermal head 9 are turned, and printing can be performed. At the time when printing in one line is finished and the rollers 12 are fitted into the notched parts 14a, 14c, the base 10 and the head 9 are turned as above, whereby the head 9 and a thermal recording paper 6 are brought out of contact with each other. Therefore, the ununiformity in density at a printing finishing part can be reduced, and the head 9 can be returned to a home position while making contact with the paper 6 after heat is dissipated from the head 9.
