Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a light pulse train of a repetitive frequency limitation and a very high speed transformation limitation which avoids a chirping characteristic by segmenting disconnectedly in equal distance bright line spectra of the light pulse train by using an optical filter having a periodic spectral characteristic with frequency that is an integral multiple of the repetition frequency. CONSTITUTION:A mode synchronizing pulse holds many bright line spectra (vertical modes) of a frequency interval of F0. A light pulse train is guided to a light filter 2 having a periodic transmission characteristic of 2f0 on a light frequency through an optical lens system or an optical fiber. The light filter 2 hold a function to thin out every other bright line spectra of the incident light pulse, to make one pass and to make another reflect. Consequently, light transmitted or reflected by the light filter 2 is made into light having spectra whose spectrum interval is 2f0 and spectrum width is equal to that of a former envelope, that is to say, whose pulse time width is constant and which satisfies the relation of the transformation limitation. Thus, the former light pulse train of the repetition of f0 can be converted into light pulse trains of two system trains and two-fold repetitive 2f0.
