Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide good corrosion resistance and <=1,000 deg.C joining temp. and to prevent the discoloration of a ceramics part by using a brazing filler metal having specific components in order to join ceramics and ceramics as well as metal. CONSTITUTION:The brazing filler metal constituted, by weight, of 40-80% Au, 2-24% Ag, 1-40% Cu, 0.1-10% Zn, and 0.1-10% Al is used as the brazing filler metal. The corrosion resistance is, therefore, assured by using Au as the essential component. The joining temp. is lowered to <=1,000 deg.C by incorporating Ag, Cu and Zn into this brazing filler metal. The discoloration of the ceramics part is prevented by incorporating Al as the active component therein.
