Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the quality of a weld zone and to simplify the stage by projecting a high energy beam along a weld line without a gap formed by butt welding to weld metallic materials. CONSTITUTION:Cut plates 1 get butted against a hydraulic cylinder 3 and pressed thereby and the electrification is executed from a transformer 2 to perform the butt welding thereon. Next, the high energy beam such as a laser beam is projected on the already formed weld line while blowing machining gas thereon as necessary. By this method, the edge preparation can be eliminated and the quality of the weld zone is improved.
