Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the reliability of a pump device adapted to be used in a nuclear power plant or the like, by providing such an arrangement that replenishing water in a priming tank is taken out through a discharge side pipe line of a pump which requires priming water so that priming water may be fed at any time, irrespective of the operating conditions of the other pumps. CONSTITUTION:A pump 1 sucks up water from a water supply source 2 through a suction side pipe line 3 and a priming water check valve 4, and discharges water through a discharge side pipe line 5. When water leaks from the pump 1 and the priming water check valve 4, water in an amount corresponding to the amount of the leakage water is fed from a priming tank 7. In this arrangement, when the water level of the priming tank 7 lowers below a predetermined level, a signal from a level switch 9 is transmitted to a shut-off valve 12 and a control panel 13 through a cable 14 so as to open the shut-off valve 12, and further, a signal for starting the pump 1 is transmitted from the control panel 13 through a cable 16. Further, water discharged from the pump 1 is fed into the priming tank 7 through the discharge side pipe line 5, a replenishing water line 11 and the shut-off valve 12.
