Abstract

PURPOSE:To aim at measuring a precise fuel injection rate by use of a fuel injection rate measuring device having a fuel chamber in which a fuel injection valve to be measure is fitted and pressure sensors are disposed, by using a strain gage type pressure sensor and a piezo type pressure sensor as the above- mentioned pressure sensors so as to measure the volumetric elastic modulus of fuel with a high degree of accuracy. CONSTITUTION:A fuel injection valve 13 is fitted in an intermediate housing 7 constituting a measuring device body 2 through the intermediary of an adapted 10, and fuel from a fuel injection pump 15 driven by a motor 14 is jetted into a fuel chamber 8. A pair of pressure sensors 20, 21 are disposed in the intermediate housing 7, a fuel discharge device 3 and a calibration device 4 for measuring the volumetric elastic modulus of fuel in the fuel chamber 8 are disposed in upper and lower housings 5, 6, respectively. A strain gage type pressure sensor is used as the pressure sensor 20 for detecting a gage pressure in the fuel chamber 8 while a piezo type pressure sensor is used as the pressure sensor 21 for detecting variations in pressure, thereby it is possible to compute the volumetric elastic modulus of fuel adapted to be used for calculation of a fuel injection rate, with a high degree of accuracy.
