Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the capacity of an exhaust gas purifying agent to remove SO2, NOX, etc., by mixing either fuel residue contg. CaO or the residue and one or more kinds of substances such as SiO2 with water and by curing the mixture in wet air to produce the purifying agent. CONSTITUTION:Fuel residue contg. calcium oxide obtd. by allowing calcium carbonate to coexist with combustibles at the time of combustion and having activity to acidic substances produced from the combustibles is used as a primary starting material. Substances capable of feeding CaO, SiO2, a sulfuric acid compd., a halogen compd., Al2O3, sulfide and alkali metal hydroxide are used as secondary starting materials. The primary starting material or the mixture of the material and one or more kinds of substances selected among the secondary starting materials is mixed with water and cured in wet air or steam to produce an exhaust gas purifying agent. The cured mixture is preferably molded or further heat-treated at >=30 deg.C.
