Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent generation of troubles such as buckling of a rolled stock by installing one or more guide rollers or trough guides between a driven horizontal work roll and a non-driven vertical work roll under a specific condition. CONSTITUTION:Even numbered vertical mills are a non-driven mill in a continuous rolling mill. Therefore, a rolled stock between the (i)th driven horizontal mill and the (i+1)th vertical mill in the downstream side is loaded with compression force. By that, buckling of the stock may be occur depending on values of a stock thickness alpha1 and an axis-to-axis distance Li of the work rolls. Hence, guide rollers or trough guides as stock restricting means are installed to meet requirements of the inequality at least; where, (l) is a max. distance in which the stock exists without restraint in the length direction between the (i)th and (i+1)th stands.
