Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the KANA (Japanese syllabary)/KANJI (Chinese character) converting speed and the auxiliary postpositional word input speed, by using a single consonant key for input of the corresponding auxiliary postpositional words and then using the combination of consonant and vowel keys for input of words other than the auxiliary postpositional words. CONSTITUTION:Both consonant and vowel key groups 11 and 12 are monitored and a detecting part 2 detects the simultaneous input keys. Then the key codes corresponding to buffers 31-33 are stored and flags 41-43 are changed. The key codes are converted into KANA codes by a Roman character/KANA converting part 5 based on a table. At the same time, an auxiliary postpositional word detecting part 6 adds the auxiliary postpositional word identification codes to the key codes when a consonant key is singly operated (only flag 43 set at '1') to store these identification codes into a memory part 7 and then sends these codes to a KANA/KANJI converting part 9 with operation of a conversion key 13. The part 9 retrieves a read/description/grammar dictionary 8 for display at a display part 10. In case the identification code of the auxiliary postpositional word is added, the retrieval of the dictionary 8 is omitted and therefore the converting process is performed quickly. In such a way, the input of auxiliary postpositional words is possible just with a single operation of a single key with no use of any key exclusive for auxiliary postpositional words. Furthermore the relevant grammatical information is automatically produced and the converting processing speed is improved.
