Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize the high-accuracy gyro of simple constitution which generates no frictional force by supporting a rotor formed of a superconductor by a permanent magnet and storing the rotor and a stator in a low-temperature stage wherein a vacuum is produced. CONSTITUTION:The rotor 2 formed of the high-temperature superconductor is supported by the permanent magnet 6 and the rotor 2 and stator 5 are stored in the low-temperature stage 4 which has a vacuum layer 3 internally. In this constitution, the rotor 2 is cooled previously and put in a superconducting state. The low-temperature stage 4 receives the radiant heat of the rotor 2 to cool the rotor 2 below the critical temperature of the superconductor, thereby maintaining the superconductive state. The rotor 2 in this state cuts off the magnetic field of the magnet 6 by minus effect and generates reaction, so it is supported to float in the vacuum layer 3. Consequently, the rotor 2 generates no frictional force and the high-accuracy gyro is realized.
