Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled ceramic part having excellent fixability of electrically conductive layer, by applying an electrically conductive substance containing Ti as a constituent component to a surface of sintered ceramic and heat-treating in vacuum or in an inert gas atmosphere to form a specific intermediate layer to fix the conductive layer. CONSTITUTION:An electrically conductive substance containing at least titanium as a constituent component (e.g. Ti foil or Ti-Cu alloy) is applied to a surface of a sintered ceramic (e.g. sintered AlN or sintered Al2O3) by foil-lamination, vacuum deposition, sputtering, etc. The coated ceramic is heat-treated in vacuum or in an inert gas atmosphere to form an intermediate layer between the conductive layer and the sintered ceramic and obtain the objective surface-conductive ceramic member (e.g. roller for bearing). The intermediate layer contains a compound of the constituent component of the conductive layer and the constituent component of the sintered ceramic.
