CONSTITUTION:Engine brake means comprise exhaust brake means 5 for opening and closing an exhaust passage 3 and turbine brake means 6 adapted to discharge air sucked when a turbine wheel 16 is rotated by input from a driving force transmission system of a vehicle to apply braking force to a crankshaft 4 of an engine 1. In this arrangement, a relay circuit 25 switches a contact of a select switch 29 to operate a solenoid valve 14 an an electromagnetic clutch 24 individually or jointly, whereby either the exhaust brake means 5 or the turbine brake means 6 or both of them are controlled to operate. Thus, the braking force can be selected arbitrarily and properly according to the gradient of road or kick.
