Abstract

PURPOSE:To simultaneously record a popular program and a program on a different channel onto one video tape recorder tape with one video tape recorder device by compressing, for plural inputted video signals, time bases for signal components with 1H being a unit and executing a specific processing. CONSTITUTION:A video signal has a luminance signal component Y, a wide band color signal component CW and a narrow band color signal component CN. The signal components of the popular program are made to be a Y1, a CW1 and a CN1, and the signal components of the program on the different channel are made to be a Y2, a CW2 and a CN2. For these signal components, the time bases are compressed, for example, into 1/2 with the 1H unit by simple compression encoders 2a and 2b, and the compressed signals are synthesized by a time base multiple encoder 3 as Y1+Y2, CW1+CW2 and CN1+CN2 so as to go to the time bases successive for the signal components. Further, for the CW1+CW2 and CN1+CN2, a 1/4 count-down is executed by a time compression encoder 4 and synthesized to the Y1+Y2.
