Abstract
PURPOSE:To make a circuit small-sized and simplified and to obtain a long life of the circuit by using a phase control device to perform phase control on a pre-stage of an inverter circuit and outputting a lighting voltage of a discharge lamp from a secondary side of the inverter circuit. CONSTITUTION:An output voltage from a rectifier 2 is phase-controlled to supply its required amount to an inverter circuit 4. Pulses are outputted from the inverter circuit 4 to obtain an input voltage required for the lighting of the lamp. If a power supply voltage fluctuates to rise, then voltages applied across resistances r1 and r2 are made to rise, so that an operational amplifier 11's output voltage, which is compared with a referential voltage Vref, causes to rise. A comparator 12 functions to compare an output voltage of an amp 11 with a half-wave rectified voltage of a resistance r5. When the half-wave rectified voltage is in excess of the output voltage of the amp 11, a transistor 14 is turned on to energize a transformer 13 to turn on an SCR 8. When the power source voltage rises, timing for inverting the comparator 12 is delayed so that an output pulse of the SCR 8 is made constant in its width to be inputted to the lamp 7.
