Abstract
1,085,431. Control of A.C. loads. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC &ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 10, 1965 [March 12, 1964], No. 10180/65. Heading H2H. [Also in Division G3] A circuit for firing a pair of reverse parallel connected controlled rectifiers supplying a non- linear load which compensates to a major extent for mains voltage variations comprises a pair of Zener diodes 38, 39 in series with an inductor 40. A variation of mains voltage causes through an auto-transformer 31 a change of phase through circuit 38-40 which reflected through transformer 41-43 and transistors 45, 52 varies the phase delay of the firing pulses to thyristors 6, 7 to keep the output voltage approximately constant. The load may be one or more gas discharge tubes. The datum firing point is set by resistor 35.
