Abstract
PURPOSE:To retard the growth of dendrite by specifying the zinc bromide concentration in a negative side electrolyte containing a bromine complexing agent and charging current value in the circulation type electrolyte of a zinc-bromine secondary battery. CONSTITUTION:The inside of a unit cell 2 is partitioned into a positive chamber 6 and a negative chamber 8 with a separator 4, and a positive plate 10 and a negative plate 12 are arranged in each chamber. The chambers 6, 8 are connected to a positive electrolyte storage tank 14 and a negative electrolyte storage tank 16 through positive and negative circulation pipes 18, 20 respectively, and the electrolytes are circulated with pumps 22, 24. The positive and negative electrodes are made of carbon plastic, and zinc bromide is used as the electrolyte. The zinc bromide concentration is specified to 2.0-2.3mol/l, and charging current is specified to 10-15mA/cm<2>. The growth of dendrite is effectively retarded.
