Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve a detection of the mounting of a sample bottle, by bringing a sample suction needle into contact with a surface part other than a part where the needle is inserted into the sample bottle prior to the suction of a sample. CONSTITUTION:Prior to the suction of a sample, an X-Y moving means 1 positions a needle 2 above a sample bottle cap 12. At this reference position, a light shielding plate 3 fixed on the needle 2 intercepts light within a photosensor 4 to turn OFF the sensor 4. A CPU 14 drives a pulse motor 8 through a pulse motor driving circuit 9 at this position to lower the needle 2. Then, as the needle 2 hits the cap 12, the pulse motor is stepped out and the circuit 9 lifts the needle 2 until the sensor 4 is turned OFF again. The CPU 14 judges the presence of a sample bottle from the number of pulses applied to the pulse motor 8 with the lowering and lifting of the needle. This facilitates the detection of the mounting of the sample bottle even in such an arrangement thereof as to make a sample bottle detection mechanism hard to equip.
