Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure an inclination of an object accurately, by providing a double-structure container body having a hollow section formed between inner and outer containers comprising a light transmitting material. CONSTITUTION:An inclination detector G is provided with a double structure spherical container body 1 having a hollow section 6 with inner and outer containers 2 and 3 connected through a connecting pipe 5. The hollow section 6 between the inner container 2 and the outer container 3 is sealed up partially with a light shielding fluid 15. Then, the light shielding fluid 15 moves the hollow section 6 along the wall surface of the container in a direction constantly subject to gravity thereof. With this movement of the light shielding fluid 15, an area receiving an irradiation light from a light source 8 of a light receiving element changes. The use of the light receiving elements 10 and 11 alone enables determination of changes in the light receiving area being divided into two vectors in rectangular coordinates X and Y on a plane with respect to longitudinal and horizontal tilting of the container body 1 acting as an inclination sensor. Thus, inclinations of the container body separately in longitudinal and horizontal ways can be detected simultaneously.
