Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the vibration-damping property and heat resistance of a plate by a method wherein metal plates are joined together by a plurality of rivets as the joining member for piling up the metal plates, which consists as structural member of at least tow sheets having nearly the same thicknesses. CONSTITUTION:As the metal plate and rivet concerned, ferritic stainless steel, plain carbon steel, copper, aluminum and the like are used. 5-12 rivets per 100cm<2> is used as the joining member. The preferable diameter of the rivet is set so as to make the ratio of the area of the rivet to that of the metal plate to be about 1-2%. When a large number of thin metal plates are pinched between two thick metal plates, the sum of the thicknesses of the two thick plates is made to be 60% or more of the total thickness of the plates. When the size of the metal plate is 60-140mm<2>, the preferable number of the rivets is from six to nine, irrespective to the case. For example, two metal plates 10, which are made of SUS 304 and the thickness of which is 3mm and cut into the size of 140X60mm<2>, are piled up and joined together by six rivets 12 having a diameter of 5mm.
