Abstract

PURPOSE:To give excellent vibration damping property enough play even in high temperature region by a method wherein at least two plates, the opposing surfaces of which are roughened, are employed so as to be joined to each other by rivets. CONSTITUTION:A vibration damping composite metal plate has at least two metal plates 10 and 11 as its constitutional member. The opposing surfaces of the metal plates 10 and 11 are roughened surfaces 3 and joined as faced to each other by rivets 2. By dividing the constitutional member into some plate materials so as to join to each other, the joining members absorb their vibrational energy as frictional energy, resulting in allowing to give vibration damping effect enough play. The preferable surface roughness of the metal plate is 35S or more. If its surface roughness is below 35S, insufficient vibration damping effect results. As the metal plate used, ferritic stainless steel, plain carbon steel, copper, aluminum or the like is exampled. The number of rivets used is 5-12 per the surface area of 100cm<2> of the metal plate. The total cross-sectional area of the rivets is preferably about 0.2-2% of the area of the metal plate. The resultant composite metal plate has excellent vibration damping property even at the temperature as high as 400-600 deg.C, needless to say in use near at normal temperature.
