Abstract

PURPOSE:To automatically identify only an updated original sentence for translation by applying the generation control to both original sentences and their translated sentences for each sentence. CONSTITUTION:The generation number of an original sentence to be translated is larger than the generation number of the corresponding translated sentence. In such a case, an original sentence input processing means 3 adds '1', for example, to each original sentence supplied from an input/output device 1 as an initialized original sentence generation number and stores these original sentences in a storing area 2a. While a translated sentence generation number '0', for example, is set at a translated sentence storing area 2b. When the translation is instructed under such conditions, a translation processing means 6 translates all original sentences owing to the fact that the generation number '1' is given to each sentence of the area 2a together with the generation number '0' given to each of corresponding translated sentences. Then the obtained translated sentences are stored in the area 2b with the generation number set at '1'. Hereafter some of the original sentences is updated with operation of the device 1 and the generation number of this updated sentence is changed to '2'. Thus only the original sentence having the generation number '2' is translated with an instruction given for translation.
