Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a steel wire for welding having good plating adhesiveness by providing a surface smoothing treatment stage and electrolytic cleaning stage to a plating pretreatment and adopting replacement copper plating by chalcanthite to the plating treatment. CONSTITUTION:The wire surface is smoothed by wet drawing in the surface smoothing treatment stage A of the plating pretreatment. The electrolytic cleaning treatment B following said stage is the electrolytic cleaning by an indirect power feed system in which plural tubular electrodes opened at both ends are arranged at varied polarities without contact with each other in a series direction and the wire is passed in the tubular electrodes so as to be passed in the electrolytic treating liquid existing in the electrodes. The steel wire is then subjected to the chalcanthite plating in the plating stage C. The wire enters a plating cell and is plated by a plating liquid in a plating stage C. The wire is then washed in a washing tank, is neutralized of the lime soap in a neutralizing tank and is then transferred into a skin pass drawing stage D where the wire is subjected to skin pass drawing by a 1.2phi die; thereafter, the wire passes along a capstan and is taken up on a take-up bobbin, by which the product wire is obtd.
