Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide the titled composition retaining its effective properties even when used under high temperatures or under repeatedly varying temperatures between high and low temperatures, by compounding stainless steel fibers with a matrix resin having a heat deformation temperature which satisfies a specific relation to the maximum temperature to be used. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is produced by compounding (A) a matrix resin (e.g.: a composition comprising 100pts. of ABS resin and 5-70pts. of polycarbonate resin) comprising as the main component one or more kinds of styrenic resins (e.g.: polystyrene or ABS resin) and having a heat deformation temperature THDT satisfying a relation of THDT>=65+0.43XTh (Th is the maximum working temperature and is 60-100 deg.C) with (B) 2-20wt.% of stainless steel fibers having a fiber diameter of 2-50mum. A part or total of the styrene component in each of said styrenic resins is displaced by alpha-methylstyrene to raise the heat deformation temperature of each styrenic resin by >=5 deg.C.
