CONSTITUTION:A magnetic disk 1 is rotated and driven in the direction of an arrow (a), a magnetic head 2 is supported by a gimbal type supporting device 3, driven and positioned in the direction of an arrow b1 or b2 on a rotation diameter O1 by a positioning device 4, and thus, the magnetic recording and reproducing are executed by prescribed cylinders T1-Tn. Since at least by an innermost circumferential cylinder T1, the recording and reproducing are executed while the magnetic head 2 is brought into contact with the surface of the magnetic disk 1, the spacing loss is reduced and the excellent recording and reproducing characteristic and the recording density characteristic are obtained.
