Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the overshoot of an output voltage by limiting the output pulse width of a pulse-width modulator to a certain value. CONSTITUTION:A switching power supply is composed of a transformer 2, rectifying diode bridges D1-D4, a smoothing capacitor C1, a chopper type switching power supply 3, an inverter 4 and a matching circuit 5 to supply a load laser tube 6 with electricity. Further, said switching power supply is provided with a pulse-width modulator 7, an error amplifier 8, and a pulse-width limiting circuit 9 for controlling a transistor(Tr)Q to limit the output voltage of said chopper type switching power supply 3 to a certain value by limiting the output pulse width of the modulator 7 to a certain value. Thus, when the output voltage is excessive, the output pulse width of the pulse-width modulator 7 is limited to prevent an overvoltage.
