Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable measurement of a 3-D profile of a pipe body at a high accuracy, by arranging four rotary range finders on the circumference of a body of a measuring pig to obtain a distance data therefrom. CONSTITUTION:Four rotary range finders 34A-34D are arranged on the circumference of the trunk of a measuring pig 12 to obtain distance data from these range fingers 34A-43D. Profile of a pipe body 11 to be measured can be determined accurately regardless of a complicated bending presented thereby. An angle gauge 40 is carried on the measuring pig 12 to obtain an angle of circumferential rotation of the pipe body 11 in the measuring pig 12, allowing the learning of a rotational distance of the measuring pig 12. Thus, accurate contact position of the pipe body 11 of the range finders 34A-34D can be obtained. An inclinometer 39 is also carried on the measuring pig 12, thereby enabling the determining of a vertical change with respect to the direction of the axis of the pipe, namely, a subsidence profile of the pipe body 11.
