Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase a gasifying reaction rate in an upper reaction chamber and eliminate choking of a char recovery device and processing capacity shortage of a char feeder, by setting up an architecture in which a charge coal is pulverized and classified into a finely pulverized coal and a coarsely pulverized coal and these are individually fed into separate reaction chambers. CONSTITUTION:A coal gasifier comprising a gasifying reaction chamber composed of a lower reaction chamber 11 and an upper reaction chamber 12, into both of which a coal 1 and a gasifying agent 13, 17 are introduced, while a char 14 separated and recovered 19 from a gas 18 generated in the upper reaction chamber is fed into the lower reaction chamber. This apparatus is provided with an architecture which comprises a pulverizer 2 for the coal 1, a classifier 23 connected to the pulverizer 2 and capable of classifying a coal 3 after pulverization into a plurality of groups having different particle sizes and pulverized coal feeding means 26, 27 connected to the classifier 23 and capable of feeding pulverized coals into a plurality of column stages according to particle sizes, i.e., capable of feeding a finely pulverized coal 24 into the upper reaction chamber 12 and a coarsely pulverized coal 25 into the lower reaction chamber 11.
