Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the said resistance of a brazing filler metal consisting of an Ni-Cr-Si alloy so that said metal can be used at a high temp. by incorporating a limited weight ratio of Al into the compsn. of the above-mentioned brazing filler metal. CONSTITUTION:The alloy contg., by weight, 17-21% Cr, 8-11% Si and 2-6% Al, and consisting of the balance substantially Ni is used as the brazing filler metal. The reason for limiting the content of the component elements in the alloy is that Cr is required to be incorporated therein at 17wt.% in min. in order to maintain the resistance to heat, corrosion and oxidation. The flow of the brazing filler metal is degraded and the brazing characteristic is impaired if the content of Cr exceeds 21wt.%. The flow of the metal is degraded and the brazing characteristic is impaired if the content of Si is <=8wt.% and >=11wt.%. Al is considered to improve the oxidation resistance and is required to be incorporated into the alloy at 2wt.% in min. The flow of the metal is degraded and the brazing characteristic is impaired if the content thereof exceeds 6wt.%.
