Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled conjugate fiber giving stable high shrinkage at conventional thermal processing temperatures by conjugate spinning of two components of polyester differing in the intrinsic viscosity from each other into either side-by-side or eccentric sheath-core type on the sectional area followed by drawing. CONSTITUTION:(A) A polyester component with an intrinsic viscosity of >=0.40 and (B) a second polyester component with an intrinsic viscosity higher than that of the component A by 0.005-0.10 are brought to conjugate spinning into side-by-side type or eccentric sheath-core type fiber on its sectional area. Thence, the resulting conjugate yarn is drawn without heat treatment pref. at >=100 deg.C, thus obtaining the objective conjugate fiber with a heat shrinkage of >=33% at 170 deg.C for 15min. Said polyester constituting both the components A and B is pref. polyethylene terephthalate.
