Abstract

CONSTITUTION: Amorphous rigid carbon film (i-carbon) is an amorphous material consisting primarily of C atoms and H atoms as elements for constituting the structure, and the i-carbon film 2 is formed on a flat and smooth substrate 1 as a material for an optical waveguide. Film 3 of a piezoelectric material, an interdigital transducer 4, prism couplers 5, 6, a polarizer 7, a photoelectron multiplifier tube 8, and a sound absorbing material 9, etc. are arranged on the i-carbon film 2. By this constitution, the intensity of light is enhanced since i-carbon is used as a material for an optical waveguide, and the deflection efficiency is improved.
