Abstract
PURPOSE:To form an extremely dense oxide film on the surface of an Al or Al alloy body and to obtain an Al material having a low-gas emissivity surface by polishing the surface of the Al or Al alloy body while not exposing the surface to the moisture in air, and exposing the fresh surface of the metal. CONSTITUTION:A volatile liq. 2 such as ethanol is dripped on the surface of an Al material 1 through a liq. supply pipe 3 to prevent contact of the material with the moisture in air. Under such conditions, the surface is polished with a scrubbing brush 4 made of the metallic fiber such as stainless steel wool. As a result, the fresh metal surface is exposed, and an extremely dense oxide film is formed. A reaction vessel having low gas emissivity can be formed by using the surface-treated Al material 1.
