Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable spatial separation of an ink ribbon from recording paper when a thermal head is lifted up and subsequently eliminate paper jamming by arranging an in ribbon guide shaft above the thermal head and setting the ink ribbon to a winding direction where the ink-applied surface comes inwardly. CONSTITUTION:A guide shaft 17 on the ink ribbon takeup side is arranged above a thermal head 9, i.e. toward a thermal head support plate 14. An ink ribbon takeup roll 18 rotates clockwise. When printing is completed and the thermal head 9 leaves a platen roller 7, an ink ribbon 10 is taken up by a sag generated when the thermal head 9 ascends and stops. Therefore, the ink ribbon 10 leaves recording paper 2a, and does not become a resisting object through contact when the recording paper 2a is transported. The ink ribbon 10 is separated from the recording paper 2a in a position away from a heat generating element 9a without the blight of a printer not being increased by setting an ink ribbon takeup roller to a rotational direction where its ink-applied surface faces inwardly.
