Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the excellent linearity of a slave picture in vertical direction by thinning out scanning lines in one side of either odd or even field of the slave picture, respectively by a ratio corresponding to a reduction ratio, when the reduction ratio is a reciprocal of an even number. CONSTITUTION:At the time of reducing to a reciprocal of an even number in the slave picture, the scanning line of every n=2k (here, k is integer) scanning line is extracted one by one every other field at an equal interval, and besides, the scanning line of every second extracted scanning line and the scanning line of every second other scanning line are stored in the different areas of a memory 10. The interlaced child picture is obtained by reading out these areas alternately by one field unit. Thus, the output signal of an n-frequency divider 3 is used for extracting the scanning line and distributing and storing it in the respective area, and the dividing phase of it is set by a phase control circuit 6 according to the output signal of a two-frequency divider 5. Besides, in a case that the reduction ratio is the fraction of one to the odd number, the scanning line is thinned out respectively in every field of the slave picture signal by the ratio corresponding to the reduction ratio.
