Abstract
PURPOSE:To prepare a selective permeable membrane with high permeability and high selectivity by forming a separating active layer by means of interfacial reaction of a Schiff base metallic complex and a ligand polymer. CONSTITUTION:A porous membrane such as polytetrafluoroethylene or the like is immersed uniformly in the solution of Schiff base metallic complex represented by a general formula I, for example, saturated chloroform solution of bis(2-hydroxybenzal)-ethylenediimine cobalt and then dried to prepare a complex retaining membrane. Said complex retaining membrane is dipped in the solution of a ligand polymer, for example, chloroform solution of 4-vinylpyridine/ hexamethacrylate copolymer for subjecting to carry out an interface reaction between the metallic complex and the ligand polymer, and form an active separating layer. A selective permeable membrane thus prepared is effective for the preparation of oxygen enriched air from the atmosphere.
