Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce transient current when the power supply is to put to work, by actuating a predrive device in turning OFF a power switch and by operating a switching transistor with this output. CONSTITUTION:A switching power supply is composed of a predrive device 6a, a main drive device 6b, a changeover device 7 to change over the drive input, etc. In an ON state of a power switch 2, the changeover device 7 connects the predrive device 6a to a switching transistor(Tr) 4, while in its OFF state the changeover device 7 is changed over to connect the main drive device 6b to the Tr 4. The Tr 4 is driven by the main drive device 6b. Thus, since the predrive device 6a is actuating in the OFF state of the power switch 2, no switching frequency will rise from 0 when it is ON, and the rush current on the primary side eased.
