Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the recording density of information by providing a magnetic layer by alternately laminating ferromagnetic layers consisting of a ferromagnetic material and antiferromagnetic layers consisting of a antiferromagnetic material. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic layer 14 is formed in such a manner that the ferromagnetic layers 16 consisting of the ferromagnetic material and the antiferromagnetic layers 18 consisting of the antiferromagnetic material are alternately laminated. The demagnetic fields generated from the ferromagnetic layers 16 and the demagnetic fields generated from the antiferromagnetic layers 18 are offset by each other when the magnetic layer 14 is magnetized by external magnetic fields, by which static magnetic energy is decreased. The magnetic domain structure in the magnetic layer is thereby stabilized and the sufficient reproduction output of the information is obtd. at the time of reproducing the information and, therefore, the recording of the information to a high density is enabled. Since the quantity of the noise generated from a magnetization transition region is decreased, the S/N is improved.
