Abstract

PURPOSE:To output second harmonics efficiently by a method wherein a characteristic of an output mirror is decided in such a way that the mirror parity reflects the light of a fundamental wave and totally transmits the light of the second harmonics. CONSTITUTION:When a fundamental wave discharged from a rod 3 passes through an SHG 5, one part of the wave is converted into second harmonics; two wave lengths are mixed and progress toward an output mirror 1. Because the output mirror has both a characteristic that it reflects the fundamental wave partly and a characteristic that it transmits the second harmonics totally, the fundamental wave is reflected partly and its remaining part is transmitted and output; the second harmonics are transmitted and output totally; a laser output 6 having tow wavelengths simultaneously is obtained. On the other hand, one part of the fundamental wave reflected by the output mirror 1 is converted into the second harmonics by the SHG 5; the mixed light passes through the rod 3; whereby only the fundamental wave is amplified.
