Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the enter of external light by using a colored semi-transparent material for at least one of a smooth sheet and a transparent window. CONSTITUTION:In case of optically detecting the existence of a magnetic tape 2 by an optical detecting prism 17 arranged on an upper half 5a, external light injected from the transparent window 16 can be sufficiently absorbed by a semi-transparent sheet 14. Consequently, the generation of misdetection due to the invasion of the external light into a photodetector 22 can be prevented the starting and final ends of the tape 2 can be surely detected and the generation of malfunction can be prevented. The light transmissibity of the sheet 14 is set up to 5-80%, and especially the transmissibity of the external light with 800-900nm wavelength is preferably set up to the range (5-80%). Since the sheet 14 is semi-transparent, the inner state of the tape stored in the cassette can be vidually checked through the transparent window 16 and various characters or patterns can be formed on the sheet, so that the value of the commodity can be improved.
