Abstract

PURPOSE:To generate precise servo information by an inexpensive system by inputting a servo signal to a servo circuit by detecting servo information and track information by an optical pickup provided together with a magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:Optical pickup 5, consisting of illumination/read part 6.1 made of optical fiber and a couple of deviation detection parts 6.2 and 6.3, is fitted together with a thin-film magnetic head. If the optical fiber of illumination/read part 6.1 as wide as track TR shifts in position from the track, illumination light from optical fiber 6.1 strikes inward or outward guard band GB of a disk and then the incident light to the bevel of guard band GB is photodetected as reflected light by deviation detection parts 6.2 or 6.3 provided at the opposite side across optical fiber 6.1. Therefore, the deviation of the magnetic head is detected by the output of the deviation detection part having received the reflected light. Thus, precise servo information is generated by the inexpensive system.
