Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to read and reproduce signals with high efficiency by arranging on the same plane respective light sources for recording information detection, tracking state detection and focus state detection. CONSTITUTION:Information reading light source 4, tracking state detecting light sources 5 and 6, and focus state detecting light sources 8 and 9 are so arranged that spot beam S from light source 4, spot beams T1 and T2 from light sources 5 and 6, and spot beams F1 and F2 from light sources 8 and 9 will be projected on the same straight line 20 on a recording track surface. To obtain respective detection signals with good densitivity by a SCOP system, spots T1 and T2 are projected on a track, where informatinn spot S is projected accurately, at one-fourth interval of the track pitch opposing to each other and focus spots F1 and F2 are projected on adjacent tracks or further adjacent tracks.
