Abstract
PURPOSE:To simply remove oxide scale from the surface of an Ni or Ni alloy wire rod in a short time during production, by subjecting the wire rod after hot rolling with grooved rolls to annealing, cold drawing at a specified reduction of area and pickling. CONSTITUTION:An ingot of pure Ni, an Ni-Cu alloy, an Ni-Cr-Al alloy, etc., for a wire rod is cogged or bloomed and the surface flaws, etc., of the resulting square bar are removed. The bar is heated in a heating furnace and worked into a wire rod by hot rolling with grooved rolls. The wire rod is annealed and cold drawn at >=5% reduction of area to innumerably crack oxide scale on the surface of the wire rod and the wire rod is pickled. By this pickling the oxide scale is removed in a short time and then the wire rod is brought- annealed. Thus, a wire rod is produced with superior productivity.
