Abstract
PURPOSE:To easily produce the titled compound useful for the synthesis of photographic coupler, etc., from an easily available and synthesizable compound, by reacting 3,3-dithioacrylonitriles with an alkoxide anion. CONSTITUTION:The objective 3,3-dialkoxyacrylonitriles of formula II (R1 is alkyl) can be produced by reacting a compound of formula I (R2 is alkyl, aryl or together with R1 form a heterocyclic group; X is H or substituent) with a corresponding alkoxide anion (preferably using an alkali metal alkoxide). The process is advantageous since it can be carried out without using thermal reaction necessitating high temperature or using hardly available raw materials. The alkyl group of R1 of the formula I and formula II may be substituted with methyl, ethyl, propyl, etc., and the alkyl and aryl of R2 may be substituted with an electron attractive group.
