Abstract
PURPOSE:To collect tetracycline based antibiotics without requiring special reagent and organic solvent in high purity and yield by subjecting a minocycline- containing aqueous solution to one absorption-elution treatment by a nonpolar and high-porous polymer. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution containing 7-dimethylamino-6-demethyl-6- deoxytetracycline (hereafter described as minocycline) is absorbed using a nonpolar and high-porous polymer as an absorbent at ambient temperature. Then minocycline is eluted with a polar organic solvent (e.g. methanol) mixable with water. The absorbent is used at 10-100 times amount (cc/g) based on an amount of minocycline in minocycline-containing aqueous solution. The minocycline-containing aqueous solution is preferably absorbed after adjusting pH to 3-9 by adding water thereto.
