Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize stable and firm fixation of a redox compound, which functions as an electron transmitting body for an oxidation-reduction enzyme, by fixing the compound with an ultraviolet-radiation hardened resin. CONSTITUTION:An enzyme electrode is prepared by using a redox compound such as 2,3-dichloro-1,4-naphthoquinone, chloranil or bromanil which almost doesn't dissolve in water. The redox compound is fixed with an ultraviolet-radiation hardened resin, such as olygoester acrylate or epoxy acrylate. For instance, epoxy acrylate which is an ultraviolet-radiation hardened resin, 2,3-dichloro-1,4-naphthoquinone which is a redox compound and a photosensitizing agent are dissolved in ethyl acetate, and the mixture solution is applied to a glass which conducts tin oxide. The glass coated with the mixture solution is dried and subjected to ultraviolet irradiation, thereby hardening the mixture solution to form a thin film over the glass. After that, glucose oxidase is fixed on the thin film by means of glutaraldehyde.
