Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce a physiologically active antitumor polypeptide, by forming a DNA region coding a physiologically active polypeptide expressed by a specific amino acid sequence or a polypeptide having Met bonded to the amino terminal of the above polypeptide. CONSTITUTION:A recombinant microbial cell containing a DNA region coding a physiologically active polypeptide expressed by an amino acid sequence of formula I or a polypeptide having Met bonded to the amino terminal of the above polypeptide is cultured to produce and accumulate a physiologically active polypeptide in the cultured product. The objective physiologically active polypeptide is separated from the cultured product. The polypeptide is an antitumor polypeptide different from conventional human TNF protein and provides a pharmaceutical composition having excellent antitumor activity.
