Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize a small-scale and high-speed data selection system by extracting the desired number of pieces out of those data near the maximum/ minimum value side against the subject input data. CONSTITUTION:A data selecting/extracting device consists of a comparison/ transfer circuit 7 containing a 1-dimensional array of (l) pieces of comparison/ transfer units 6, a memory initializing circuit 8 for memories 1 and 2 of the unit 6, a data input/output control circuit 9 which performs input/output of data to be processed to the circuit 7, and a data input/output terminal 10. Then plural data are inputted to the circuit 7 every piece via the circuit 9 and then outputted from the circuit 7. These input/output operations are repeated so that the data covering up to (2l-1) pieces from the maximum or minimum value side are selected out of all input data. Thus it is possible to extract the desired number of pieces out of those data near the maximum/minimum value side against the subject input data. In such a way, a small-scale and high-speed data selection system is obtained.
